At our location in Nieuw-Vennep, our skilled professionals work every day on smart robotic solutions for a wide range of industries. Managing director Corstiaan Verbeek and prospective director Jorn Dedel explain what the DERO DRIVE means to them.

The company excels in niche markets where standard solutions often fall short and where flexibility, technical expertise and creativity come together. "That’s where we really set ourselves apart. We add value for our customers and offer a fresh, new perspective," says Jorn.  

According to Corstiaan, DERO GROEP Nieuw-Vennep develops its solutions using a market-oriented approach. "A new solution often starts with a specific customer request, but for us, it doesn’t stop there. We also look at how a machine can be used more extensively within a market. That way, an initial innovation can evolve into a standard solution that can be widely applied, possibly as part of a complete line automation system by DERO GROEP or one of our partners." 

In recent years, this approach has led to a wide variety of innovative robotic solutions. "Think, for example, of bin picking vegetarian schnitzels, re-packing chrysanthemums, de-rinding with robots and the development of the sachet feeder with its accompanying dual-pick gripper," says Corstiaan.

Jorn emphasizes that just one successful installation can make all the difference. "For a customer who was initially hesitant, our first installation completely changed their opinion about automation. They moved forward with robotization with full confidence and even adapted their business processes to our solutions. That’s proof that we’re doing the right thing and adding real value."

That drive is also reflected in their personal motivation to work at DERO GROEP. Corstiaan deliberately sought out a place where he could create robotics solutions and found it at DERO GROEP. The company has since become an important part of his life. His ambition is to keep DERO GROEP Nieuw-Vennep thriving, to continue innovating and to actively contribute to the company’s development for decades to come. 

For Jorn, the motivation lies in the combination of the team, the mission and the future. "I think it’s incredibly exciting to be part of this team and our mission. The opportunity to contribute to the future-proofing of our family business and to develop myself motivates me every day."

Opportunities for the future

Corstiaan and Jorn also see plenty of opportunities in robotics for the future. The need for automation is growing worldwide, partly because labor is becoming scarcer. There are still many manual processes that can be automated.

According to Corstiaan, robotics is ideally suited for processes that require flexibility. Examples include small batches, frequent product changes, or natural products subject to seasonal variations. Jorn also sees many opportunities in the food processing and medical sectors, partly due to an aging population. 

Artificial intelligence is playing an increasingly important role in this context. With the rise of AI and self-learning vision, complex automation is becoming more accessible, opening up new possibilities. 

Leading the way with special robot solutions 

When Corstiaan and Jorn look to the future, they still see DERO GROEP Nieuw-Vennep as a leading robot system integrator offering specialized solutions for customers. An organization with strong partnerships, a broad portfolio of projects and the ambition to remain at the forefront of robotics. The collaboration with DERO GROEP Joure and the service organization also plays an important role in this. "We grow together, share knowledge and learn from each other," says Jorn. Corstiaan and Jorn are looking forward to the next phase of growth, in which new colleagues, new technologies and possibly even humanoids may play a role. But the foundation remains the same: continuous improvement to serve customers even better.
