Bakery automation at Bussing Brood.

Automatic depanning of various types of small bread and bread loaves? No problem! At Bussing Brood, we recently delivered a multifunctional robotic depanner that removes both small bread, like rolls and buns, from baking trays and bread loaves out of baking tins.

At Bussing Brood in Numansdorp (The Netherlands) they have been baking all kinds of bread with great attention to craftsmanship and quality for over 125 years. Once started as a small bakery store, Bussing Brood has now grown into a national hospitality supplier. To make the bakery future-proof, we were asked to automate a part of the packaging line. 

Bread loaves
Robots are ideal for automation within bakeries. With the robot depanner supplied by DERO GROEP, the heavy work at Bussing Brood is now done by a robot. When the loaves come out of the oven, the robot removes the baking tins layer by layer from the cart to depan the bread. The lids can be greased at the same time.

Small bread
And thanks to the multi-functional gripper, the robot can also depan various types of small breads, such as buns and scones, without having to change the gripper. As soon as the bread comes out of the refrigerator, the baking trays with the rolls are removed from the cart by the robot and emptied onto a conveyor belt.

Future-proof bakery
"Bussing Brood is very satisfied with the solution," tells our project manager Adriaan. "The installation has been running well from day 1 and is simple to operate. The operator also expressed that he is happy with it and that he now no longer has to do the heavy and hot work of taking the bread out of the cans." So a future-proof bakery will certainly become this way!
