Automated cheese warehouse Brazzale awarded.

19-09-2022

At the World Dairy Summit 2022 in India, Brazzale's cheese warehouse won the first prize for best sustainable innovation. We are proud that our fully automated solution for the reception, treatment, sorting and delivery of Italian Gran Moravia cheeses is part of this warehouse!

Brazzale built the fully automated Sant'Agata warehouse to ripen and treat their cheeses more efficiently and sustainably. Up to 250.000 Gran Moravia cheeses can be stored here. Together with Italian supplier Dalmine Logistic Solutions, we built a fully automatic system for the reception, treatment, sorting and delivery of the cheeses in this warehouse. The extensive automation eliminates the need for manual labour apart from loading and unloading the cheese between the trucks and the lines.

By minimising the space required for logistical movements, Brazzale can age more cheese in a smaller space and energy consumption is significantly reduced. Sustainability was also a major focus in other areas. For example, the location in a valley was chosen because of its optimal climate and good air quality for storing cheese, and solar panels on the roof of the warehouse provide the necessary energy supply.

Brazzale's focus on innovation and sustainability has now been awarded the first prize in the Innovation in Sustainable Processing category at the IDF Dairy Innovation Awards 2022. This initiative by the International Dairy Federation to encourage innovation in the dairy industry provides a unique platform to showcase innovative processes, practices and products that improve efficiency and contribute to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Out of 144 entries from around the world, Brazzale's robotic cheese warehouse was declared the winner at the awards ceremony during the IDF World Dairy Summit in New Delhi.

"This is a great satisfaction that crowns the revolutionary robotised warehouse, with the most prestigious international award assigned by a selected jury of experts," commented Roberto Brazzale as he collected the prize in New Delhi. "In thanking the jury and the audience, I wanted to personally recall the names of four of our historical employees in the Zanè warehouse to whom we dedicated each robot: Battista (Rosso), Angelo, Franco, and Foscari. Thanks were obviously extended to the formidable Italian and Dutch technical staff led by engineer Claudio Fedi who made the work possible. Artificial intelligence does not exist, there is only human intelligence, which never ceases to amaze."

We would like to congratulate Brazzale on their Dairy Innovation Award!
