3D printing gripper delta robot.

29-12-2020

For crate or box packaging of salads, with a delta robot, we designed a 3D printed gripper.

The following aspects were taken into account with the design of the gripper, fully exploiting the advantages of 3D printing:

  • Extremely low weight, which is required in connection with the available payload delta robot
  • Tight, robust and hygienic design with internal printed air shafts;
  • Because of the geometry of the delta robot, the gripper had to be given a height offset so that the robot's rods do not touch anything when it is put away;
  • The air supply connection was positioned high up, so that it could not touch anything.

We printed the various prototypes 'in house', the final design was printed by means of SLS (Selective Laser Syntering), which gives a tight and strong result.
